View the landscape of ancient Jerusalem from several breathtaking vantage points on the Armon Hanatziv Promenade. Descend deep underground to the remnants of the lower aqueduct, which was built two thousand years ago to channel water to Jerusalem. Use your flashlights to take a closer look at the power of this amazing water system. The aqueduct no longer contains water and is completely dry.

How do we reach the Peace Forest?

From the entrance to Jerusalem to the activity area in the Peace Forest:
After you have passed the Gesher HaMetarim (Bridge of Strings) at the entrance of the city, continue straight to Zalman Shazar Street. To your right, you will see the large, prominent buildings of Binyanei HaUma (the International Convention Center). The road veers to the right; continue with it to Ben Zvi Blvd. Pass two traffic signals, and at the third, when you see the Wolfson Towers to your left, turn left. After a short ascent, you will reach an additional signal, where you should turn right at a flashing yellow signal for pedestrians onto Binyamin Metudela Street. Drive the length of the road until you reach the next signal, where you will turn left onto Azza Street. Continue driving on Azza Street. Before the next intersection with a signal, you will pass the Prime Minister’s Residence on your right, and continue toward “Kikar Tzarfat,” with the Kings Hotel on your left. At the intersection, turn right at the yellow flashing signal for pedestrians, which connects you to Keren HaYesod Street, and continue on it down southward via the next four traffic signals. At the fifth signal, turn left toward the Han Theater and Jerusalem’s old train station. The road veers to the right immediately after the signal and leads you to a traffic circle where you can only turn left, facing eastward, until Derech Hebron Street, where you will turn right. Drive southward on Derech Hebron until the second traffic signal. At this signal, turn left onto Naomi Street (looking across, you will see a sign that says “Abu Tor .”) Immediately after you turn left onto Naomi Street, turn right at the first corner to the Peace Forest. Drive on the road going downward and after about 200 meters, and you’ll notice a sharp turn downward to the left, to a parking lot. This parking lot in the Peace Forest is the entrance to the tourist activity area of the City of David at the site.

From the entrance to Jerusalem via Highway 1 to the Peace Forest:

At the ascent to Jerusalem after you have passed Mevaseret Zion and the turn at Moza, get off at the interchange leading to Highway 9, following the signs to Ma’ale Adumim/Mount Scopus. Drive through the Arazim Tunnel, paying attention to the signs leading in the direction of the Giva’a Tzarfatit (French Hill), where the new light rail train also passes. Continue straight in the direction of the Old City on the road known as Road 1; the name of the street you are diving on will be called Chaim Bar-Lev Blvd. Drive southward on this road, making sure to stay in the right land, which will lead you to the Tzahal Tunnel. Enter the tunnel, which will lead you underneath the corner of the Old City. Continue straight on the road at all of the signals; you will be bypassing the Old City on your left. To your right, you will see the Sultan’s Pools, and at the signal at the end of the descent, you will only be able to continue straight toward the Mount Zion Hotel; to your left, you will pass the Jerusalem Cinematheque. At the next signal, continue straight, and you will find yourself on Derech Hebron Street. Drive southward on Derech Hebron until the third signal, where you will turn left onto Naomi Street (looking across, you will see a sign that says “Abu Tor”) Immediately after turning left onto Naomi Street, there is a right turn to the Peace Forest. Drive on the road going downward and after about 200 meters, and you’ll notice a sharp turn downward to the left, to a parking lot; there will be signs leading to it marked “Peace Forest” and “Segway Tours”. This parking lot in the Peace Forest is the entrance to the tourist activity area of the City of David at the site.

From Gilo Intersection to the Peace Forest:

From the Gilo Intersection (at the exit from the Tunnels Road) in southern Jerusalem, turn right (eastward) following the signs in the direction of Rachel’s Tomb. At the signal immediately afterward, turn left onto Derech Hebron Street. Drive on Derech Hebron in the direction of the Old City (north).
Now, you are driving on Derech Hebron; you will pass underneath a pedestrian bridge. At the third intersection after the bridge, you will see the Hollandia building on your right. Continue straight, and at the fourth signal after the Hollandia intersection, turn right onto Naomi Street, which is at the entrance of the Abu Tor neighborhood. Immediately after the right turn onto Naomi Street, turn right again to the Peace Forest. Drive on the road going downward and after about 200 meters, you’ll notice a sharp turn downward to the left, to a parking lot; there will be signs leading to it marked “Peace Forest” and “Segway Tours”. This parking lot in the Peace Forest is the entrance to the tourist activity area of the City of David at the site.
