Prophesy of Destruction

Prophesy of Destruction
(Jeremiah 7 9-17)

Can one steal, murder, and commit adultery and swear falsely and bur incense to the Baal and go after the gods of others that you never knew, and then come and stand before Me in this Temple, upon which My Name is proclaimed, and say, ‘We are saved!’ – in order to [continue] committing all these abominations?  Has this Temple, upon which My Name is proclaimed, become a cave of criminals in your eyes?  Moreover – behold, I have seen it – the word of Hashem.  For go to My shrine that is in Shiloh, where I caused My Name to dwell there at first, and see what I did to it because of the wickedness of My people Israel,  So now, since you do all these deeds – the word of Hashem – and I have spoken to you, speaking repeatedly, but you have not listened; I have called out to you but you did not respond, I shall do to the Temple – upon which My Name is proclaimed, upon which you place your trust – and to the place that I have given to you and to your father, as I did to Shiloh.  I shall cast you from My presence, as I cast out all your brethren, all the seed of Ephraim.  And you, [Jeremiah] – do not pray for this people; do not speak up for them with a cry and a prayer, and do not entreat Me, for I will not listen to you. Do you not see what they do in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem?

 (Jeremiah 34 1-4)
The word that came to Jeremiah from Hashem, while Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylonia and his entire army and all the kingdoms of the land under the rule of his hand and all the nations were fighting against Jerusalem and against all its [surrounding] cities, saying: “Thus said Hashem, God of Israel: Go and speak to Zedekiah, king of Judah, and say to him: Thus said Hashem: Behold, I am delivering this city into the hand of the king of Babylonia, and he will burn it in fire.  You will not escape from his hand, for you will certainly be captured and will be delivered into his hand; your eyes will see the eyes of the king of Babylonia and his mouth will speak to you mouth, and you shall come to Babylonia.  But hear the word of Hashem, Zedekiah king of Judah!  Thus said Hashem concerning you: You will not die by the sword.
