Gemaryahu son of Shafan

Gemaryahu son of Shafan
(Jeremiah 36 9-12)

It happened in the fifth year of Jehoiakim son of Josiah, king of Judah, in the ninth month, that a fast was declared before Hashem in Jerusalem, all the people in Jerusalem and all the people coming from the cities of Judah into Jerusalem.  And Baruch read the words of Jeremiah from the book in the Temple of Hashem, in the chamber of Gemariah son of Shaphan the scribe, in the Upper Courtyard, at the opening of the New Gate of the Temple of Hashem, in the presence of all the people.  Micaiah son of Gemariah son of Shaphan heard all the words of Hashem being read from the book, and he went down to the king’s palace, to the scribe’s chamber, and behold, all the officers were sitting there: Elishama the scribe, Delaiah son of Shemaiah, Elnathan son of Achbor, Gemariah son of Shaphan, Zedekiah son of Hananiah, and all the [other] officers.
